Forest Minister Konda Surekha has announced a big push to make Telangana a leading eco-tourism hub. She explained that the government’s main goal is to protect forests and wildlife while also creating opportunities for people to enjoy nature responsibly.

As part of this plan, Niladri Hills will be developed as a model eco-tourism site. Niladri Hills, located in northern Telangana, is known for its scenic beauty, lush forests, and spiritual significance. The hills are a serene getaway, offering trekking paths, viewpoints, and glimpses of tribal culture, making it a promising site for eco-tourism development.

The idea is to turn it into a peaceful getaway where visitors can connect with nature, learn about biodiversity, and enjoy sustainable tourism. This will not only promote green travel but also create jobs for local communities.

Funds for the project will come from both the Tourism and Endowments Departments. The government wants to make sure that eco-tourism doesn’t harm the environment but instead strengthens conservation. Konda Surekha stressed that such projects will help spread awareness about the importance of protecting natural resources.

She also mentioned that Telangana has a wealth of beautiful landscapes, forest areas, and sacred spots. By linking temples, forest reserves, and natural attractions, the state can create unique eco-tourism circuits. These circuits will give travelers a chance to explore culture and spirituality along with nature.

The minister believes eco-tourism will become a major attraction for both domestic and international tourists. More importantly, it will empower local people, especially those living near forests, by giving them new livelihood options.

With this vision, Telangana is taking a step towards balancing growth with sustainability, showing that development and nature can go hand in hand.
