Knight Riders Ride Again: Allen's Blitz Powers KKR to Dominant 8-Wicket Win Over DC
Kolkata Knight Riders made it four wins on the trot Friday evening at the Arun Jaitley Stadium , dismantling Delhi Capitals with a performance that was equal parts clinical and breathtaking. KKR chased down a target of 143 in just 14.2 overs , winning by 8 wickets with 34 balls to spare .
The evening belonged, unequivocally, to Finn Allen . The New Zealand dasher smashed a stunning 47-ball century , a knock that made a mockery of Delhi's bowling attack and turned a tense playoff-race encounter into a one-sided spectacle. It was the first time Allen had played through an entire IPL powerplay in eight innings this season, and he never let his foot off the gas. Even Mitchell Starc , DC's pace spearhead, couldn't contain him, Allen scooped the Australian quick for a six over fine leg in a defining moment of the night.
The foundations for KKR's dominance, however, were laid with the ball. KKR's spinners, led by Sunil Narine , choked DC's batters in the middle overs on a tacky surface, restricting the hosts to a below-par 142 for 8 . At one stage, DC scored just 11 runs in 30 balls between overs 12 and 16, a rare stat in IPL history. Pathum Nissanka made a half-century at the top, and Ashutosh Sharma added 39 off 28 balls , but it was never enough.
Freak dismissals of Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi briefly gave Delhi hope, but Cameron Green kept Allen company and the chase stayed firmly under control. A fourth straight win pushes KKR past DC into seventh place , keeping their playoff hopes alive while Delhi’s campaign continues to slip at home.
