KKR's Big Move: Ryan ten Doeschate to Drive Scouting, Recruitment and Global Strategy

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have strengthened their global cricket leadership by appointing former Netherlands star Ryan ten Doeschate as the franchise's Head of Cricket Strategy, marking his return to the Knight Riders family soon after his stint as Team India's assistant coach came to an end.

The appointment comes after the BCCI confirmed that both Ryan ten Doeschate and fielding coach T Dilip would not receive further extensions with the Indian team's support staff.

In his new role, ten Doeschate will oversee the strategic direction of the Knight Riders' worldwide cricket operations, focusing on talent identification, player recruitment, squad planning, scouting systems, and performance evaluation across all KKR franchises.

His responsibilities extend beyond the Indian Premier League, as he will help create a unified cricket philosophy across the Knight Riders' global teams. He will also serve as assistant coach for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20, and Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket.

Expressing his excitement, ten Doeschate described the appointment as a unique opportunity to work closely with coaching and analytics teams across the Knight Riders network while strengthening scouting and player development systems for long-term success.

Knight Riders Sports CEO Venky Mysore said the former all-rounder's deep understanding of the franchise's culture, coupled with his experience in both international and franchise cricket, made him the ideal choice to lead the team's long-term cricket strategy.

The appointment also marks another homecoming for ten Doeschate, who was part of KKR's title-winning squads in 2012 and 2014 as a player before returning as a member of the coaching staff during the franchise's 2024 IPL triumph.

With the Knight Riders expanding their footprint across multiple global leagues, the franchise is betting on a familiar face to build a stronger talent pipeline and ensure a consistent cricketing identity across its international teams.
