Kishan Reddy: Hyderabad Poised as India’s Railway Powerhouse

Union Minister for Coal G. Kishan Reddy said Hyderabad is set to emerge as one of India’s largest railway hubs, following major developments in the national railway sector. He highlighted Telangana’s priority in the 2026–27 Union Budget.

The Budget includes seven high-speed rail corridors and a research center for the KAVACH Automatic Train Protection System, placing Hyderabad at the center of India’s railway modernization. Telangana currently has projects worth over ₹47,000 crore , with modernization of more than 30 stations expected by 2026 .

Telangana’s railway network spans 1,242 km , with 627 km already equipped with KAVACH. Three of the new high-speed corridors—Hyderabad– Pune , Hyderabad– Bengaluru , and Hyderabad– Chennai —will be centered on the city, ensuring faster connectivity to major metros.

As part of the third phase of the Multi-Modal Transport System, a project linking Hyderabad to Yadagirigutta temple town may soon witness a Bhoomi Puja by Prime Minister Narendra Modi . Telangana has been allocated five Vande Bharat trains and two Amrit Bharat trains.

Commenting on the Budget, Reddy said it benefits all sections of society and strengthens the path toward a developed India by 2047 . Allocation for the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has been increased from ₹88,000 crore to ₹96,000 crore . “This budget focuses on long-term infrastructure and development, not short-term gains,” he added.
