Telangana farmers can now access agricultural advice and grievance support with a phone call, as the Kisan Helpline Centre (KHC) strengthens the support available to them. The service covers crop-related queries, cultivation practices, fertiliser use and complaints concerning government schemes.

The toll-free helpline 1800-180-1551 allows farmers to seek assistance on a range of agricultural issues. Those dealing with pest or disease attacks on crops can seek expert guidance, while farmers with doubts about fertiliser application, cultivation methods or other farming practices can also call the centre. The facility also enables farmers to register complaints if they have not received benefits under government agricultural schemes or face other agriculture-related problems.

A key feature of the service is the availability of guidance in Telugu, allowing farmers to communicate their concerns comfortably and understand the advice provided. The helpline operates from 6 am to 10 pm every day, including Sundays, giving farmers access to support throughout the week.

The Kisan Helpline Centre has been providing services across the country since 2004 under the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. In Telangana, the centre operates from the office of the Commissioner and Director of Agriculture in Hyderabad. Besides offering agricultural advice, it receives complaints related to various government schemes and facilitates their processing through the department's digital grievance redressal system.

The digital platform is intended to make the grievance redressal process more streamlined, allowing complaints to be taken up for necessary action and helping address farmers' concerns more efficiently. The service therefore serves as an additional support mechanism alongside the existing network of Agricultural Extension Officers and other officials working at the field and commissionerate levels.

Agriculture Department Director Dr B. Gopi, IAS, has directed officials to create wider awareness about the facility, particularly among farmers in remote villages. He asked Agricultural Extension Officers and Mandal Agriculture Officers to conduct extensive awareness campaigns at the village level.

Dr Gopi urged farmers to make effective use of the helpline to clarify agricultural doubts, obtain expert advice and seek solutions to their grievances.
