In a match that had everything, explosive strokeplay, nerve-shredding twists, and a run chase for the ages, Delhi Capitals edged out Punjab Kings by 3 wickets in a pulsating IPL encounter at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on Monday evening.

Punjab set what looked like a daunting target after posting 210/5 in their 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings brilliantly with an unbeaten 59 off 36 balls , while Priyansh Arya provided the early fireworks with 56 from 33 deliveries. Young Suryansh Shedge lit up the death overs with a cameo of 21 off just 8 balls as Punjab plundered runs from every corner of the ground. Mitchell Starc , despite picking up two wickets, was belted for 57 runs in four overs, a rare nightmare outing for the Australian quick.

Delhi's chase began on wobbly legs. Arshdeep Singh was at his lethal best, removing KL Rahul and Sahil Parakh inside the first five overs to leave the visitors reeling at 33/3 . It looked all over when Tristan Stubbs , who fought hard for a slow 12, was run out to make it 74/4 . But Delhi had warriors in the dressing room.

Axar Patel walked in and threw the script away. The Delhi captain blazed 56 off just 30 balls , full of crisp drives and muscular sixes, before falling to Marcus Stoinis . David Miller then took the baton, smashing 51 off 28 in a breathless cameo. Ashutosh Sharma kept the nerves at bay with 24 off 10 , and with Madhav Tiwari finishing with 18 not out , Delhi hauled over the line at 216/7 in 19 overs , completing one of the great IPL chases of the season with a full over to spare.
