Kimi Antonelli Makes F1 History With Four Straight Maiden Grand Prix Victories

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli continued his remarkable form in the 2026 Formula 1 season with a commanding victory at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, claiming his fourth consecutive race win and strengthening his lead in the drivers’ standings after Round 5.

Antonelli completed the race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 1:28:15.758 , comfortably finishing ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen . The Italian youngster now sits firmly at the top of the championship with 131 points.

The race initially looked set for an intense battle between the two Mercedes drivers. George Russell , who had won Saturday’s Sprint race, ran strongly near the front and challenged Antonelli during the opening stages. However, Russell’s race ended in disappointment after a technical failure forced him to retire while running in podium contention. Despite the DNF, the Briton remains second in the championship standings with 88 points.

Ferrari enjoyed one of its most competitive weekends of the season so far. Hamilton secured second place his best Grand Prix result since joining Ferrari while Charles Leclerc crossed the line in fourth, helping the Scuderia collect valuable points in both championships.

Red Bull Racing finally found reason for optimism after a difficult opening stretch to the season. Verstappen delivered a solid drive to finish third and secure his first podium finish of 2026, though the Dutchman still sits seventh in the standings.

McLaren, meanwhile, endured a frustrating weekend in Canada as neither Lando Norris nor Oscar Piastri managed to score . Norris slipped to fifth in the drivers’ championship following the poor outing.

Further down the grid, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Haas rookie Oliver Bearman continued their consistent midfield form with more points finishes. Liam Lawson and Franco Colapinto also impressed again, recording strong results to continue their rise in the standings.
