Kidnapped Jharkhand Industrialist’s Son Still Untraced
Ten days after the alleged abduction of Kairav Gandhi , the 24-year-old son of prominent Jharkhand industrialist Devang Gandhi , the police are yet to trace his whereabouts, deepening anxiety among family members and the wider public.
Kairav was allegedly kidnapped from Jamshedpur on January 13 , but investigators have not publicly shared any major breakthrough in the case so far. Police officials maintain that the investigation is progressing, though details remain guarded, citing the sensitive nature of the crime.
Devang Gandhi is a well-known figure in Jamshedpur’s industrial ecosystem and is associated with the automotive components and auto-parts manufacturing sector , with operations located in the Adityapur industrial belt. He is also involved in local industry leadership and has served in office-bearing roles in industrial associations representing small and medium manufacturing units, giving the case heightened public visibility.
The prolonged absence of concrete information has triggered growing concern across the city, with residents expressing unease over what many see as a disturbing return of kidnapping-for-ransom crimes. The case has revived memories of several infamous and tragic abductions in India’s past , particularly those in which delays in rescue efforts ended in devastating outcomes, reinforcing fears among families and business communities alike.
Senior police officials said teams are working across multiple angles and locations, but declined to comment on specific leads. “It would not be appropriate to share further details until the victim is safely recovered and the accused are arrested, as it involves a human life,” a senior officer said.
As public pressure mounts, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced plans to intensify its response if the victim is not traced soon. Party leaders have warned of street protests and said delegations would meet senior police officials, while the state leadership intends to raise the issue with the Director General of Police. BJP leaders have also indicated they may seek central intervention, including a demand for a CBI inquiry .
The case has once again placed Jharkhand’s law-and-order situation under sharp scrutiny, with citizens, traders and industrial workers alike hoping for the safe return of the young man as investigators continue their search.
