
Khammam to Get International-Standard Synthetic Track: Collector Reviews Work
District Collector Anudeep Durishetty inspected the ongoing construction of a synthetic running track at Sardar Patel Stadium in Khammam city, a project estimated to cost ₹8.5 crore. The Collector, accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Agastya and City Mayor Pukollu Neeraja, reviewed the site and assessed the progress of the work firsthand.
The track, being constructed to international standards, was closely examined by the Collector, who emphasized strict attention to quality . He instructed officials to ensure that all aspects, including track leveling, pinning, bonding, and line marking, adhere to prescribed norms. Collector Durishetty also directed the installation of one-side curbs to prevent rainwater accumulation and the erection of high-mast lights to provide adequate illumination for athletes , in compliance with ISO standards.
During the visit, the Collector also toured the newly built Table Tennis Hall within the stadium complex and reviewed the available sports facilities. He advised officials to provide all necessary amenities to ensure athletes can train in a comfortable environment. Additionally, he suggested planting fast-growing greenery around the stadium to enhance the surroundings.
The Collector instructed that the construction work be completed within the stipulated timeline without compromising quality. Once completed, the synthetic track is expected to give a significant boost to the development of sports in Khammam district.
