District Collector Divakara T.S. has directed officials to complete ongoing development projects in Khammam within the stipulated deadlines and make them available to the public without delay. He stressed that construction speed must not come at the expense of quality and safety standards.

The Collector conducted a surprise inspection of the cable-stayed bridge being constructed across the Munneru River at Kalvoddu in Khammam. He subsequently reviewed construction work at the Government Medical College and the Centre of Excellence Tribal Welfare School in Raghunathapalem mandal. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Agastya and Trainee Assistant Collector Paras Kumar accompanied him during the inspections.

Divakara interacted with officials and representatives of the construction agencies to assess the progress of the projects and identify measures needed to prevent delays.

During the inspection of the Government Medical College, the Collector called for a clear, phased action plan to complete the remaining construction. He instructed officials to expedite work on the compound wall, hostel buildings, internal roads, electricity supply, drinking water and sanitation facilities. He emphasised that departments must coordinate closely and execute infrastructure works simultaneously wherever possible.

The Collector directed officials to ensure that the medical college becomes operational by the next academic year, with all essential facilities in place. Electrical works on the ground and first floors should be completed first to make the areas ready for use. He also set a deadline of November-end for completing the administrative block and other pending construction works. Final works at the girls’ hostel must be expedited, with particular attention to student safety.

Reviewing the cable-stayed bridge project, Divakara instructed the construction team to complete the remaining work by the end of November and open the bridge to the public. He directed officials to closely monitor the final stages and ensure compliance with prescribed quality and safety standards.

At the Centre of Excellence Tribal Welfare School, the Collector reviewed construction of the main building, hostels, kitchen and dining hall. He instructed the agencies to maintain construction quality and speed up drinking water supply arrangements to ensure adequate facilities for students.

Divakara directed the concerned departments to maintain regular oversight, coordinate their efforts and ensure that all projects are completed within their respective deadlines.
