A 62-year-old man tragically died shortly after casting his vote at a polling station in Vaniampara on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Vinodan , a resident of Ramanchira near Vaniampara, collapsed while leaving the polling centre.

Vinodan had arrived at EKM UP School in the morning to exercise his franchise. After waiting in the queue for nearly an hour, he cast his vote and was heading out when he suddenly collapsed at around 10:45 am .

Bystanders immediately rushed to help, seating him on a chair and alerting election officials. An ambulance was called, and he was transported to a nearby government hospital , where he was declared dead. The exact cause of his collapse has not been officially confirmed, and authorities are awaiting medical reports to determine whether any pre-existing health conditions contributed to the incident.

Local police have stated that a case will be registered, and an investigation into the circumstances of his sudden death has been initiated. Election authorities continue to urge voters, particularly the elderly, to take precautions and seek immediate assistance if they feel unwell while at polling stations.

The incident occurred during otherwise peaceful polling in the area, highlighting the importance of medical readiness at polling sites.
