In a major cultural announcement, the Kerala Literature Festival (KLF) is set to return to the Kozhikode beachfront from January 22 to 25, 2026, promising one of its largest and most diverse editions yet. Considered among India’s biggest literary gatherings, the festival will bring together over 400 speakers, including Nobel laureates, Booker Prize winners, athletes, economists, artists, and bestselling authors, making the ninth edition a powerful global convergence of ideas, creativity and culture.

This year’s line-up includes Nobel Laureates Abdulrazak Gurnah, Olga Tokarczuk and Abhijit Banerjee, Booker Prize-winning writer-activist Banu Mushtaq, Olympian Ben Johnson, former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, economist Arvind Subramanian, artist Cheyenne Olivier, and renowned authors Gabriela Ybarra, Peggy Mohan, Shobhaa De, and Amish Tripathi.

The festival will host 250 sessions across seven parallel tracks, spanning literature, cinema, science, geopolitics, art, technology, economy, and social thought. The sessions will be complemented by concerts, theatre acts, artistic showcases, and evening performances, turning the beachfront into a lively cultural hub.

Ravi Deecee, chief facilitator of KLF, said the event has grown beyond literature to become a space where “art, science, cinema, and social innovation coexist.” He added that KLF 2026 will further deepen the exchange of ideas and celebrate cultural diversity through meaningful conversations between global voices.

A large-scale light installation will also be set up on the Kozhikode beach as a visual symbol of artistic collaboration.

This follows the successful participation of France as the guest nation in KLF 2025, which witnessed over 6.5 lakh visitors and 600 speakers, a record turnout for the festival.

Immersive cultural experience

Along with literature, the 2026 edition will continue the festival’s popular tradition of fusion nights, theatre shows, concerts, traditional and contemporary art performances, and interactive sessions with global thinkers. The beachfront setting now synonymous with KLF will once again act as a vibrant open space for creativity and conversation.

The festival will conclude on January 25, marking four days of intellectual exchange, artistic brilliance, and multicultural celebration, setting the tone for one of India’s biggest literary and cultural events of 2026.
