Kerala Launches C-DIT Centre of Excellence for AVGC-XR Technologies
A Centre of Excellence aimed at harnessing the potential of Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) technologies was launched here on Wednesday under the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT).
The centre was inaugurated by Kerala Information Technology and Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, who said the facility would contribute to creating more employment opportunities in the rapidly expanding sector and provide a platform for entrepreneurs and innovators to develop new ideas.
Addressing the gathering, Kunhalikutty said there was a vast global market for AVGC-XR technologies and the new centre would help Kerala tap into the opportunities emerging from the industry.
He assured that the state government would extend full support to the activities of the Centre of Excellence. C-DIT Director Dr M Abdul Rahman, who delivered the welcome address, said the initiative was part of the state government's vision to transform Kerala into a global technology hub.
The centre has been established at the C-DIT complex in Chithranjali, Thiruvallam, and has already commenced operations. According to an official release, the Centre of Excellence is fully equipped to function as a studio, laboratory and research centre, enabling work across various applications of AVGC-XR technologies.
Its primary objective is to integrate emerging technologies in animation, visual effects, gaming and extended reality with a range of sectors, including government services, industry, education, tourism and heritage conservation.
The initiative is expected to provide opportunities for technology development, innovation and skill creation while supporting the growth of Kerala's AVGC-XR ecosystem.
The launch comes as the state seeks to expand its technology-driven industries and strengthen its position in emerging digital sectors with potential for both domestic and international growth.
