Kerala Blasters FC ended their Indian Super League campaign on a positive note with a 2-1 victory against FC Goa in Kochi on Monday, extending their unbeaten run to six matches.

Goals from Kevin Yoke and Fallou Ndiaye secured all three points for the home side, while Muhammed Nemil scored FC Goa’s lone goal in a closely fought encounter.

The result helped Kerala Blasters finish eighth in the standings with 17 points from 13 matches, while FC Goa ended their campaign in seventh place with 20 points.

Kerala Blasters began aggressively and won an early free-kick through Victor Bertomeu, but FC Goa gradually gained control of possession and looked dangerous in attack. Ronney Willson Kharbudon and Dejan Drazic both created opportunities for the visitors, while Nemil tested goalkeeper Arsh Shaikh with a long-range strike.

Despite Goa enjoying more of the ball, Kerala Blasters produced the clearer chances in the first half. Vibin Mohanan forced goalkeeper Bob Jackson into a sharp save, while the hosts also earned a series of corners that were dealt with well by Pol Moreno and the Goa defence.

Nihal Sudeesh came close to breaking the deadlock late in the first half, while Udanta Singh’s header at the other end required a smart save from Arsh Shaikh as the teams went into halftime level.

The hosts made a bright start to the second half and took the lead in the 48th minute through a moment of brilliance from Kevin Yoke. The midfielder unleashed a powerful long-range strike that flew into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

FC Goa responded strongly and equalised in the 62nd minute when Brison Fernandes delivered a precise low cross into the box, allowing Muhammed Nemil to finish calmly from close range.

With both teams searching for a winner, Kerala Blasters found the decisive goal in the 81st minute. Francisco Feuillassier delivered a corner into the area and Fallou Ndiaye guided the ball into the bottom corner to restore the hosts’ lead.

FC Goa pushed forward in the closing stages, but Kerala Blasters defended resolutely to hold on for victory and finish the season on a winning note.
