Kerala ATS detains man at airport for alleged ISIS-related social media activity

The Kerala Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has taken a man into custody for allegedly sharing content linked to the terror outfit ISIS on social media , police officials said on Thursday.

The suspect, identified as Aadhil of Thekkeveetil, Mulavoor in Muvattupuzha , was detained by immigration authorities at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Wednesday upon his arrival from a Gulf country. Police sources said a lookout notice had been issued against him by the ATS as part of an ongoing probe into the circulation of ISIS-related material online.

After intercepting Aadhil, immigration officials alerted the ATS. Subsequently, a team from the ATS unit at Nedumbassery reached Thiruvananthapuram and took him into custody for questioning.

Officials said Aadhil is currently being interrogated , and further action will be decided based on the outcome of the questioning. His mobile phone and other electronic devices have been seized and are being examined as part of the investigation, they added.
