Kejriwal’s ‘Ram Temple’ Masterstroke? Nationwide Signature Campaign Sparks Fresh Political Storm

A political controversy over the alleged misuse of donations linked to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya intensified on Sunday after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced a nationwide signature campaign demanding strict action against those accused in the matter.

The announcement came during a Sundarkand recitation programme organised by the AAP at Japanese Park in Rohini, Delhi. Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal said prayers were offered to Lord Hanuman seeking justice in the alleged donation theft issue and announced that the signature campaign would begin after the religious programme.

In a post on social media platform X, Kejriwal urged people to participate in the campaign and said the initiative would seek public support for action against those allegedly involved in the controversy.

“We will pray to Lord Hanuman for strict punishment for those who committed the donation theft in Ram Temple, and with his blessings, we will launch a signature campaign across the country,” Kejriwal said.

The AAP chief said the campaign was aimed at gathering public opinion and pressing for accountability in the matter.

However, the move drew sharp criticism from the BJP , with Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra accusing Kejriwal of using the religious programme for political gains. Malhotra termed the Sundarkand event a “political gimmick” and alleged that the AAP leader was attempting to influence voters in Punjab and other states where elections are approaching.

Malhotra also questioned the AAP’s earlier decision regarding Sundarkand recitation programmes announced during the Delhi government’s tenure in 2024. He claimed that weekly Sundarkand recitations were planned across all 70 Assembly constituencies of Delhi but were later discontinued.

The latest development has added another layer to the ongoing political debate surrounding the Ram Temple donation controversy, with both AAP and BJP trading allegations over the issue.
