Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday held an organisational meeting with party office-bearers and senior leaders in Goa as political activity in the state gathers pace ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Kejriwal, who has been visiting Goa since Tuesday, addressed party leaders in Panaji along with former Delhi chief minister Atishi and AAP's Goa unit president Valmiki Naik.

Senior vice-president Sandesh Teleikar-Desai, working president Gerson Gomes and organisational secretary Prashant Naik were also present at the meeting.

The discussions focused on strengthening the party organisation and preparing for the upcoming Assembly polls. AAP leaders reiterated their commitment to taking on both the BJP and Congress in the state.

The meeting assumes significance amid differences between AAP and its recently formed alliance partner, the Goa Forward Party (GFP), over the possibility of bringing Congress into a wider opposition alliance.

AAP and GFP had on September 13 announced the 'Goa First' alliance for the 2027 elections, pitching it as a non-BJP, non-Congress political alternative.

However, GFP chief Vijai Sardesai has subsequently indicated that his party remains open to a broader political realignment. He has argued that the opposition would struggle to defeat the BJP if Congress was kept outside the alliance.

Sardesai has maintained that a wider opposition arrangement was necessary to mount an effective challenge to the ruling BJP.

AAP, meanwhile, has maintained that the 'Goa First' alliance is a non-Congress, non-BJP front and has questioned the GFP's position following Sardesai's remarks.

During his Goa visit, Kejriwal has been meeting party workers and other stakeholders as the AAP steps up preparations for the elections.

At Thursday's meeting, party leaders resolved to further expand AAP's organisational presence in the state and campaign against both the BJP and Congress in the 2027 polls.
