Actress Keerthy Suresh has been appointed as UNICEF India’s new Celebrity Advocate, marking a significant milestone in her journey as both a performer and a socially conscious public figure. Known for her acclaimed work across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema, the National Award-winning actress will now support UNICEF’s efforts to strengthen awareness on children’s mental health, emotional well-being, and overall development. The announcement was made through a UNICEF press release, which also noted that Keerthy will be seen at several upcoming engagements, including the Revolver Rita trailer event in Hyderabad on November 28. In this new role, Keerthy will use her influence to promote discussions on child rights, encourage public involvement in welfare initiatives, and bring attention to the challenges faced by vulnerable children across India. Her strong screen presence and her consistent portrayal of empowered women align with UNICEF’s commitment to equality, protection, and social progress.

UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey said that Keerthy’s deep connection with audiences would help amplify the organisation’s mission to ensure every child receives care, safety, and opportunities to dream and grow. The process behind such an appointment involves UNICEF identifying personalities with positive public images and evaluating their alignment with the organisation’s values. Background checks, internal assessments, and direct discussions are conducted to confirm genuine interest, availability, and long-term commitment. These positions are voluntary and unpaid, created solely to expand awareness and reach, with UNICEF covering travel and logistics for official field missions while the celebrity contributes time, voice, and public visibility.

Expressing her gratitude, Keerthy said that children symbolize both responsibility and hope, and emphasised the importance of fostering nurturing environments that support emotional and social development. She added that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive regardless of background or ability, and said she was honoured to collaborate with UNICEF India in championing these crucial causes.
