KCR Must Answer In Assembly On Kaleshwaram, Says Minister Vivek

Telangana Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy has demanded that BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao attend the Assembly and answer questions surrounding the Kaleshwaram project.

Vivek was speaking at a massive rally organised with around 1,000 motorcycles at the Jaipur mandal headquarters in Mancherial district to mark the Congress government completing 1,000 days of public governance. He urged party leaders and workers to take the government’s welfare and development initiatives to the people.

The minister said KCR, as the Leader of the Opposition, had a responsibility to participate in the Assembly and respond to questions over the Kaleshwaram project. He sought explanations on why the project suffered structural failures, the expenditure incurred during its construction and allegations of commissions linked to the project.

Vivek further said that if KCR continued to remain absent from the Assembly, the House should consider taking a decision on his position.

Vivek also outlined several development initiatives being taken up in the Chennur constituency, accusing the previous government of neglecting the region for a decade.

He said the Congress government had accelerated development works, including efforts towards sanctioning the RK Open Cast Project (RK OCP) mine and the ongoing construction of an additional 1,200 MW thermal power plant at Jaipur.

The minister said a 100-bed hospital in Chennur would be inaugurated soon, while a drinking-water project worth ₹30 crore was being implemented in the constituency. Funds have also been allocated for the construction of junior and degree college buildings, he said.

Looking ahead to the Godavari Pushkarams, Vivek said development works worth ₹70 crore were being planned. These include ₹6 crore for road widening towards the Godavari in Ward 10, ₹2 crore for the development of the Pochamma temple, and ₹17 crore for tourism promotion.

He said Chennur would be developed with concrete roads, improved side drains and better civic infrastructure, with the goal of turning it into a model town and an example for the rest of Telangana.
