On the occasion of the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose , grand tributes were paid at the Jagruti Kendra office . Jagruti President Kalvakuntla Kavitha and leaders of the All India Forward Bloc participated in the event, offering floral garlands to Netaji’s portrait. Kavitha praised Netaji’s immortal struggle for India’s independence through the Azad Hind Fauj , describing him as an ideal for today’s generation .

Subsequently, Kavitha wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi , urging that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands be renamed ‘Azad Hind’ . She noted that this would be a true tribute to Netaji’s legacy and the vision he held for the nation.

In her letter, Kavitha recalled that during the last GHMC elections, the BJP’s proposal to rename Hyderabad as ‘Bhagyanagar’ was purely politically motivated and did not receive public support. She emphasized that the renaming of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands should instead reflect genuine national pride .

Kavitha further stated that the demand to rename the islands has been a long-standing demand of the All India Forward Bloc Civic Association , which they fully support. She expressed that naming the islands ‘Azad Hind’ would be a fitting tribute to Netaji’s dedication and sacrifices for the country . Urging the Prime Minister to take this historic decision, she requested that the proposal be taken seriously in recognition of Netaji’s courage and selfless service to the nation.
