Kavitha Slams Govt Over ACB Probes, Seeks Corruption Inquiry in Singareni
Kalvakuntla Kavitha strongly criticised Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka over his remarks on ordering vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) probes into recruitment in Singareni, and challenged the government to initiate an inquiry into alleged corruption instead.
Speaking at a round-table meeting titled “Save Singareni” , organised by Telangana Jagruti with support from HMS at the organisation’s office in Banjara Hills, Kavitha asserted that investigations should target “thousands of crores worth of scams under the present government” rather than the recruitment of workers.
She warned that if necessary, a fresh agitation would be launched to protect Singareni , stating that questioning past recruitment policies particularly dependent jobs given under earlier governments was unjust. She accused the government of ignoring workers’ issues and called for the immediate constitution of a medical board to address their health concerns.
Highlighting the risks faced by coal miners, she said Singareni workers were “risking their lives to extract coal” , yet their hardships were being overlooked. She noted that while the organisation once ensured financial security for workers, conditions were now deteriorating.
Kavitha demanded the immediate release of ₹47,000 crore dues pending to Singareni, warning that delays were affecting workers’ salaries and safety. She questioned how a ₹2,250 crore lithium refinery agreement was awarded to a small firm with an annual income of just ₹27 lakh , and sought clarity on the company’s capacity and bank guarantees, alleging corruption in the deal.
She also alleged large-scale irregularities in an ₹11,000 crore solar project in Rajasthan , claiming that the cost per megawatt was shown to be three times higher than actual estimates.
Citing a CAG report, she called for a probe into the diesel scam and rule violations that reportedly caused losses worth thousands of crores to the organisation. She further demanded:
• Immediate revival of the stalled medical board under the old system
• Income tax exemption for workers in this high-risk sector
• Immediate recruitment of 350 medically cleared candidates
• Filling of vacant clerk posts
• Implementation of CGHS rates instead of NIMS rates for medical services
Kavitha reiterated that Telangana Jagruti would extend full support to all protests led by HMS and declared that, if required, a movement akin to the Telangana agitation would be launched for the “liberation of Singareni.”
HMS General Secretary Riyaz Ahmed , Prasad, and a large number of Singareni workers attended the meeting.
