Kavitha slams BJP over Telangana history

MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha strongly criticized the BJP, accusing the party of distorting Telangana’s history and stirring religious tensions. She spoke to the media on September 17 at the Telangana Jagruthi office after hoisting the national flag to mark the Telangana Merger Day.

Kavitha condemned the BJP for calling September 17 “Liberation Day” instead of recognizing it as Telangana Merger Day. She alleged that the party’s words and actions go against India’s federal system and are attempts to create religious divisions. She also clarified that the Congress played no role in the Telangana merger.

Kavitha further said that criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi without affection and promoting it publicly is part of the BJP’s strategy to mislead people. She suggested that the Chief Minister should write a letter to the central government. Questioning whether BJP celebrated Liberation Day in other states, she said the party is holding such events in Telangana to provoke people.

She expressed confidence that the people of Telangana will protect the state’s history.
