With tensions continuing over land acquisition , house demolitions , and rehabilitation concerns in several parts of Telangana, Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday approached Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, urging immediate intervention to protect displaced families and farmers affected by major infrastructure and industrial projects.

Accompanied by Dharma Samaj Party president Visharadan Maharaj and a group of affected residents, Kavitha met the Governor at Lok Bhavan and submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the problems faced by victims of the Velugumatla demolitions in Khammam district , people likely to be displaced by the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR/Triple R) project , and farmers opposing land acquisition for an industrial park in Kollapur village of Pargi mandal .

The delegation explained that repeated land acquisition drives and demolition exercises had severely impacted livelihoods, leaving several families uncertain about compensation, rehabilitation, and future settlement. Kavitha also raised concerns over the frequent changes in the Triple R alignment , alleging that the project route had been altered multiple times, creating confusion and anxiety among farmers and landowners across affected villages.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Kavitha said the Governor responded positively and assured them that he would seek a report from the state government regarding the issues raised. She expressed hope that the intervention would help ensure justice for displaced families and prevent further hardships.

Kavitha claimed that continuous protests led by Telangana Rakshana Sena had already forced the government to partially reconsider some decisions. According to her, authorities agreed to allocate land to displaced families in Velugumatla within the same locality, while certain acquisition procedures linked to the Triple R project were temporarily halted.

However, she described these developments as only “partial relief” and insisted that comprehensive rehabilitation and fair compensation were still pending. She warned that the agitation would intensify if the government failed to address the concerns of affected residents.

The TRS chief also launched a sharp attack on the Congress government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. She accused the administration of publicly promoting welfare initiatives while simultaneously displacing poor families through demolition drives. Referring to the Velugumatla eviction episode, Kavitha alleged that a woman suffered a miscarriage during the demolitions, calling it a tragic example of the human cost of forced evictions.

She further criticised the government over the condition of farmers in Telangana, alleging that paddy stocks were piling up at procurement centres while authorities remained indifferent. Stressing that farmers are crucial to the state’s economy and food security, Kavitha demanded immediate procurement of pending grain stocks and stronger support for the farming community.
