Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has demanded that the state government take action within a month against alleged illegal constructions in Ayyappa Society, Khanamet, warning that her party would otherwise mark unauthorised buildings with red paint.

Addressing a press conference at her party office on Thursday, Kavitha alleged that hundreds of buildings had been constructed in the locality since the Congress government came to power, despite restrictions imposed by the High Court. She claimed that around 500 to 700 unauthorised structures had come up, including multi-storey buildings in several survey numbers. She accused officials of granting permissions in violation of court directions and alleged that members of the Chief Minister's family were backing the constructions.

Demanding a comprehensive survey of Khanamet, Kavitha called for action against buildings lacking valid permissions and those violating fire safety regulations. She also sought an investigation into property registrations carried out through notarised documents, cautioning people against purchasing land without verifying ownership records.

Drawing attention to demolitions in Shatrajupalli village of Manthani constituency, she alleged that 374 houses belonging to poor families were razed overnight even before coal mining operations began or a proper survey was conducted. She questioned the government's failure to act against influential builders while taking action against economically weaker sections.

Kavitha also accused Aditya Builders of undertaking projects within the Musi riverbed, claiming that three additional projects were being developed despite earlier protests. She referred to allegations linking construction permissions to favours extended to the Chief Minister's family.

On governance, she criticised the implementation of the RTI Act, claiming that nearly 18,000 applications were pending across Telangana. She demanded responses to her queries concerning Ayyappa Society.

Targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Kavitha said his Hyderabad visit failed to address civic problems, drought conditions in 320 mandals and farmers' concerns. She also criticised the Centre for not announcing relief for affected farmers.

Raising concerns over irrigation, she pointed to contradictory statements by the Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao regarding crop cultivation. She urged the government to resolve the state's electricity shortage and appealed to women graduates to support the Telangana Rakshana Sena in upcoming elections.
