Katrina Kaif has responded to online trolling over her post-pregnancy appearance, questioning society's expectations that women should quickly regain their pre-pregnancy bodies. In a recent interview with Vogue India, the actor said she would rather focus on motherhood and the next phase of her life than allow harsh online opinions to affect her happiness.

The actor faced criticism after attending the Ambani family's Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai in September 2026 with her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal. Photographs from the event triggered a wave of body-shaming comments, with some social media users sharing before-and-after comparisons of her appearance and even suggesting that her career was over.

Addressing the criticism, Katrina said people are already aware of the physical changes a woman's body undergoes after childbirth. If they continue to judge women harshly despite that understanding, she believes the problem lies in their attitude rather than a lack of information.

"We live in a world that wants to blow us around in the ever-changing winds of opinions," she said, adding that she wanted to concentrate on this beautiful phase of her life and where she was headed.

Katrina also challenged the popular expectation that women should 'bounce back' after giving birth. Questioning the phrase, she asked, "Bounce back? From where?"

The actor explained that becoming a mother represented a step forward towards something she had deeply desired, rather than a phase she wanted to reverse. She recalled the overwhelming emotion of seeing her son, Vihaan, for the first time after his birth in November 2025.

Katrina said the experience was particularly meaningful after the four-year journey she and Vicky had undertaken to start their family. She also made it clear that she remained conscious of her fitness and wanted to reach a point where her body felt most energetic, but would do so at her own pace.

This is not the first time Katrina has spoken about social media criticism. Earlier in October, while attending a London event for her beauty brand Kay Beauty, she said allowing online opinions to determine one's self-worth could restrict personal choices. She added that constantly responding to criticism could leave people paralysed by fear.

Her remarks have renewed discussions about postpartum body-shaming and the unrealistic beauty standards imposed on female celebrities. Katrina's response highlights a broader issue: why are women expected to justify natural changes in their bodies after childbirth, particularly when they remain under constant public scrutiny?
