Kate Hudson’s iconic screen style wins Costume Designers Guild Spotlight Award

Golden Globe Award winner and Academy Award-nominated actress, singer/songwriter, producer, entrepreneur, and New York Times bestselling author Kate Hudson will be honored with the Spotlight Award at the 28th CDGA on February 12, 2026, at The Ebell of Los Angeles, California.

The Spotlight Award is a career honour celebrating performers who value the role of costume design in storytelling. Past recipients include Amy Adams, Angela Bassett, Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway and Zoe Saldana . Hudson’s two-decade career, spanning iconic roles in Almost Famous, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Nine and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery , has consistently highlighted how fashion helps define character and mood on screen.

Reacting to the honour, Hudson said, “Being honoured by the Costume Designers Guild with the Spotlight Award is so special and meaningful to me. Throughout my career, costume designers have been such incredible collaborators, helping to create authentic, powerful characters.” She also praised designers she has worked with, calling them “true storytellers” who bring “artistry, intention and heart” to every role, as quoted by Variety.

Hudson currently stars opposite Hugh Jackman in Craig Brewer’s musical drama Song Sung Blue. While the award is not tied to any single film, her recent work has renewed focus on her long-standing collaboration with costume designers.

The Costume Designers Guild has also announced nominations for the 28th CDGA, with films including Avatar: Fire and Ash, Bugonia, Weapons, Sinners and One Battle After Another in the running. Winners across nine categories will be announced at the February 12 ceremony.
