Kartika Pournami Garuda Seva to be held at Tirumala today

The auspicious Kartika Pournami Garuda Seva has been scheduled to be observed at Tirumala today, as announced by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

According to the official statement issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer of TTD, arrangements have been made for the sacred procession in which Sri Malayappa Swamy, the processional deity of Lord Venkateswara, will be taken out on the golden Garuda Vahanam to bless devotees. The event will be conducted on the occasion of Kartika Pournami, one of the most significant full moon days in the Hindu calendar.

The deity will be adorned with exquisite ornaments and traditional attire before being paraded through the four Mada streets surrounding the temple. The Garuda Seva, which symbolizes the divine carrier of Lord Vishnu, is regarded as one of the most important vahana sevas performed in Tirumala after the annual Brahmotsavam.

Thousands of devotees are expected to witness the event, as Kartika Pournami is considered highly sacred for darshan of Lord Venkateswara. The TTD administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the festival, including queue management, security, illumination, and provision of essential amenities for pilgrims.

Traffic restrictions and crowd control measures are also expected to be implemented in and around the temple town to facilitate hassle-free movement of devotees. Adequate deployment of staff and volunteers has been arranged to assist pilgrims during the procession.

The Kartika Pournami, which falls on November 5 this year, marks the culmination of holy rituals performed throughout the Kartika month. Devotees traditionally consider participation in the Garuda Seva on this day to bring spiritual merit and divine blessings.

The sacred event will be conducted under the supervision of temple priests and officials, following Agama traditions and established Tirumala rituals.
