Karnataka government scholarship for girls

The Karnataka government has introduced a special scholarship scheme aimed at empowering girl students and encouraging higher education across the state. The initiative is designed to provide financial support to meritorious girls from economically weaker sections, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational aspirations.

Under the scheme, eligible girl students pursuing pre-university, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses in government and aided institutions will receive direct financial assistance. The scholarship will cover tuition fees, examination costs, and in some cases, hostel charges. Officials stated that priority will be given to students from rural areas, first-generation learners, and those pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that the move is part of the government’s broader agenda to promote gender equality in education. “Education is the strongest tool for women’s empowerment, and this scholarship will ensure our girls can study without financial worries,” he said.

The scheme is expected to benefit thousands of students every year, helping reduce dropout rates among girls, especially in higher education. Applications will soon be available online through the state’s education department portal, making the process transparent and accessible.
