The Indian National Congress (INC) presented over 1.12 crore signatures collected in Karnataka as part of its “VoteChori” campaign, aimed at raising awareness about alleged irregularities in the electoral process. Each signature, according to party officials, included verified voter details and contact numbers.

The submissions were made at a media briefing at AICC headquarters in New Delhi, where D.K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and President of Karnataka Congress, spoke about the campaign’s objectives. He highlighted that the campaign was conducted under the leadership of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, who had previously initiated investigations into voter irregularities, beginning in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru.

Shivakumar emphasized that the campaign is a step to safeguard every vote and preserve the democratic process in India. He described the drive as a statewide effort involving District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents, block-level leaders, and party workers, showcasing the party’s commitment to defending electoral integrity.

While the campaign is described by the Congress as part of a larger nationwide initiative, there is no independent confirmation of similar signature collection drives in other states. The party has claimed that the collected data demonstrates widespread irregularities in the voting process.

The Congress reiterated that the campaign is designed to protect the principle of ‘One Man, One Vote’ and ensure that elections reflect the true will of the people. The message “Protect Every Vote” was underscored as the central theme of the initiative, with the signatures serving as both a symbol of public support and a tool to demand accountability in the electoral system.

The presentation of the signatures at AICC headquarters was accompanied by glimpses of the media briefing, highlighting the scale of the effort and the party’s emphasis on citizen participation in safeguarding democracy.
