The Karnataka Legislature is set to convene for its budget session from March 6 to March 27 , government sources confirmed on Thursday. Minister H K Patil , in charge of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, said the session duration was approved in a recent cabinet meeting.

Speaking to reporters, Patil described it as a full‑fledged 14‑day session, emphasizing that lawmakers will have ample time to deliberate on key policy and budgetary matters. Traditionally, the budget session in Karnataka runs for around two weeks, but the exact dates can vary year to year depending on the state’s legislative calendar and administrative priorities. Last year, the session was held from March 8 to March 21, spanning 13 days , and during that period the state government presented a, record budget in state’s history, with a total outlay of around ₹4.09 lakh crore for the 2025‑26 financial year.

During the upcoming session, the government is expected to present its annual budget , outline expenditure plans, and address pending legislative business. Patil added that all preparatory arrangements are underway to ensure smooth proceedings and active participation from legislators across party lines.

The budget session is crucial for finalizing state finances, development programs, and policy measures for the upcoming fiscal year, and it also provides a platform for opposition parties to raise questions and hold the government accountable.
