Kantara Chapter 1 set for global release on Oct 2nd
The much-awaited prequel to the blockbuster Kantara , titled Kantara Chapter 1 , is gearing up for a grand worldwide theatrical release on October 2, 2025. Produced by Hombale Films, the epic saga will be presented in seven languages—Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English—promising to take audiences back into a mythical era where legends are forged in fire and faith.
The film will open across Nizam territories through Mythri Release, while Dream Screens International will handle its distribution in Australia and New Zealand, marking its global reach. Fans are especially excited to see Rukmini Vasanth in a key role, alongside Ajaneesh Loknath’s powerful music score, which is expected to once again elevate the film’s mystic and cultural essence.
However, the release faces a hurdle in Kerala. Ongoing disputes between Prithviraj Productions and FEUOK (Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala) over revenue-sharing terms have raised concerns about the movie’s screening in FEUOK-affiliated theaters. While discussions are underway and the issue is expected to be resolved, uncertainty remains if the disagreements continue closer to the release date.
Despite these challenges, anticipation for Kantara Chapter 1 is at an all-time high, with fans across India and abroad waiting to revisit the rich world of folklore, spirituality, and legend that made the original a cultural phenomenon.
