Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited Kantara: Chapter 1 has stormed the global box office, collecting over ₹300 crore worldwide within its opening weekend. Released on October 2, 2025, the mythological action prequel has amassed an estimated ₹223 crore net in India by its fourth day, with exceptional performance across Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil markets.

The film’s overseas collections have also impressed, raking in $35.72 million (approx. ₹297 crore), reflecting its strong international pull. In India, Kerala alone contributed ₹22.75 crore, while multiplexes and single screens across the country reported packed shows and repeat audiences. In the opening weekend (October 2–5, 2025), Kantara: Chapter 1 performed exceptionally well in North India, particularly in the Hindi-speaking regions. The film earned approximately ₹70.5 crore net in North India during this period.

Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 delves into ancient folklore, blending spirituality, mysticism, and raw action elements that have resonated deeply with viewers. The film has drawn praise from celebrities such as Anupam Kher and Riteish Deshmukh, who lauded its storytelling and cultural authenticity.

Trade analysts predict that, riding on strong word-of-mouth and repeat viewership, the film could end its theatrical run with a lifetime collection between ₹700 and ₹750 crore, solidifying its position as one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of the year.
