Former minister and senior YSR Congress Party leader Kurasala Kannababu on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu , asserting that he has no moral authority to speak about credibility.

Addressing the media at his camp office in Kakinada, Kannababu said unfulfilled promises had become the defining feature of Chandrababu Naidu’s political career. He alleged that the Chief Minister’s sole objective, regardless of the platform, was to criticise YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy , while indulging in self-praise.

He maintained that the public was well aware of who truly possessed credibility in public life.

NTR anniversary politicised

Kannababu alleged that even the 30th death anniversary of N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) was politicised, claiming that Chandrababu Naidu focused more on highlighting his own achievements than speaking about NTR’s ideals and principles. He said people had not forgotten Chandrababu’s “political betrayal” of NTR.

He further accused the NDA coalition government of presiding over questionable land transactions in the State, alleging that valuable government lands were being allotted to favoured organisations at throwaway prices. He claimed that land worth thousands of crores was leased out to select corporate entities for nominal amounts, resulting in large-scale loss to the State exchequer.

Free rein to sand and liquor mafias

Kannababu alleged that despite promises of free sand, the government had created a situation where sand was being sold at exorbitant prices. He claimed sand reaches and stockyards were under the control of ruling party leaders.

On liquor policy, he said the situation had gone out of control, with illegal sales, inflated prices and even doorstep delivery being reported. He alleged that liquor syndicates were reaping huge profits, especially during festival seasons.

Neglect of drug menace

Expressing concern over the drug menace, Kannababu said Andhra Pradesh was turning into a hub for narcotics under the present regime. He alleged that despite frequent seizures of ganja and cocaine, the government was failing to take effective action. He recalled that a dedicated mechanism to control drugs was put in place during Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure.

He also accused Chandrababu Naidu of taking credit for industries and investments initiated during the previous YSRCP government, alleging that facts were being distorted to mislead the public.

Kannababu said allegations against Y.S. Jagan was being made only to divert public attention from the government’s failures, adding that focusing on propaganda instead of governance was harming the people.

Meanwhile, the ruling Telugu Desam Party has not issued any response to these allegations so far.
