Kamal Haasan Joins Shah Rukh Khan in AR Rahman's Asha Bhosle Tribute

Music maestro AR Rahman has announced that superstar Kamal Haasan will feature in his upcoming tribute music video dedicated to legendary singer Asha Bhosle, adding another major name to a project conceived to celebrate her extraordinary musical legacy.

Rahman expressed his gratitude to Haasan for supporting the tribute, describing the veteran actor as a “legend” of Indian cinema. “A warm thank you to the one and only Kamal Haasan for lending his support for Asha Bhosle ji's tribute music video,” Rahman wrote on X, adding that having someone who has enriched Indian cinema be part of the project made it particularly special.

The announcement comes a day after Rahman revealed that Shah Rukh Khan would also feature in the tribute video. He thanked the 'Baazigar' star for agreeing to participate, further underlining the scale of the project.

Importantly, the tribute was not conceived only after Asha Bhosle's death. Rahman had revealed that the project began as a dream while the singer was still alive, with the hope that she would one day witness the love and gratitude behind it. He released its teaser in June 2026, on the occasion of World Music Day.

The teaser offered glimpses of the making of the project, bringing together artists, musicians and performers from different backgrounds to honour Bhosle's contribution to Indian music.

Asha Bhosle died on April 12, 2026, aged 92, due to multiple organ failure. She was cremated with full state honours at Mumbai's Shivaji Park Crematorium, with several film personalities, including Vicky Kaushal and Aamir Khan, attending her funeral.

With Haasan and Khan now joining the tribute, Rahman's project is shaping up as a major celebration of one of India's most influential musical voices.
