Kalvakuntla Kavitha to contest upcoming assembly elections with Telangana Jagruthi

Former MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who was recently suspended from the BRS, has made a striking decision in Telangana politics. She announced that she will contest the upcoming assembly elections under the banner of her socio-cultural organization, Telangana Jagruthi, making it clear that she has no plans to rejoin the BRS.

Speaking to the media at the ‘Janam Bata’ event organized by Telangana Jagruthi in Jogulamba Gadwal district, Kavitha emphasized that her priority is to remain among the people, whether elections are near or not. She said public service has always been at the heart of her political journey. Kavitha also expressed that although the BRS had appointed her as an MLC, she was deeply hurt by the experience and will not return to the party under any circumstances, according to a statement released by Telangana Jagruthi.

Reflecting on her tenure as an MP, she said programs like ‘Mana Ooru - Mana MP’ kept her accessible to the public, allowing her to engage directly with people’s issues. Kavitha criticized the BRS leadership, including allegations against relatives and party leaders, for undermining the prestige of her father, former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, in the context of the Kaleshwaram project - an issue that led to her suspension in September 2025.

Since her suspension, Kavitha has focused on public issues through Telangana Jagruthi and has leveled charges of corruption and irregularities against both the BRS and the ruling Congress party. She also stated on December 12 that, if given the chance, she would investigate all injustices in the state since its formation in 2014 during her tenure as Chief Minister.
