Kajal Aggarwal’s The India Story Faces Last Minute Setback Ahead of Release

Kajal Aggarwal is all set to return to the big screen with The India Story, but the socially charged courtroom thriller has run into an unexpected hurdle just a day before its theatrical release. While the film is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 24, only the Hindi version will arrive as planned, with the Telugu and Tamil dubbed versions postponed due to pending censor formalities.

Directed by Chettan DK, The India Story revolves around the alarming consequences of pesticide intensive farming, exposing alleged corporate malpractice and its impact on public health. Kajal Aggarwal plays a determined advocate leading the legal battle, while Shreyas Talpade appears in a pivotal role. The cast also includes Murli Sharma, Manish Wadhwa, Atul Tiwari, Kamlesh Sawant, and Trisha Sarda.

The film was initially announced as a simultaneous Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil release, and trailers in all three languages were unveiled during promotions. However, with the dubbed versions yet to receive certification, audiences outside the Hindi market will have to wait for a revised release date.

Despite tackling a hard hitting and socially relevant issue, the film has struggled to generate strong pre release buzz. Advance bookings have remained muted, suggesting that awareness among moviegoers is still limited. Industry observers believe the film's theatrical prospects will now depend almost entirely on positive reviews and strong word of mouth after the first few shows.

Clocking in at 2 hours and 10 minutes with a UA16+ certification for the Hindi version, The India Story blends courtroom drama with a social message, taking on issues of food safety, chemical misuse, and public health.

Presented by Zee Studios in association with MIG Production & Studios, the film is produced and written by Sagar B. Shinde. With its powerful subject and Kajal Aggarwal leading the charge, The India Story now carries the challenge of converting critical appreciation into box office success after its delayed multilingual rollout.
