
Justice Lisa Gill Takes Charge as Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge
Justice Lisa Gill was sworn in as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur during a special ceremony held in the first court hall of the High Court.
Justice Gill, who was transferred from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, formally assumed charge and joined the bench alongside fellow judges following the ceremony.
Chief Justice Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur is scheduled to retire in April this year. After his retirement, Justice Gill may become the first woman Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court based on seniority. If this happens, it will mark an important milestone in the state’s judicial history.
A native of Chandigarh , Justice Gill completed her LLB and LLM from Punjab University. She began practicing law at the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 1990 and was appointed as a judge of the same High Court on March 31, 2014. After serving for more than a decade, she has now been transferred to Andhra Pradesh.
The ceremony was attended by Additional Solicitor General Challa Dhanunjay, Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas, Advocates Association Vice-President K.V. Raghu Kumar, Bar Council Chairman Dwarakanath Reddy, Public Prosecutor Lakshmi Narayana, and several senior advocates and members of the legal fraternity.
