Jubilee Hills Gears Up for Bypoll, Voter List Finalised
With the Jubilee Hills bypoll expected later this year, the finalisation of the voter rolls marks a key step toward the announcement of election dates. Officials indicate that the Election Commission may issue the notification in the coming weeks, paving the way for polling, most likely around November–December.
The updated rolls now place the constituency’s electorate at close to four lakh, showing a small but steady rise compared to the 2023 Assembly polls. The increase comes after the inclusion of fresh voters and service electors, underscoring the constituency’s growing urban base.
The by-election follows the passing of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath in June. The BRS has already announced his widow, Sunita Gopinath, as its candidate, while Congress and BJP are still finalising their nominees.
Political observers say the contest will be closely watched, both for its symbolism and for what it signals ahead of larger state-level battles.
