Jubilee Hills’ Anaganaga Hotel Fined ₹20,000 for Water Wastage
Water Board officials have taken action against a hotel for wasting large quantities of water while cleaning its premises in Jubilee Hills. The authorities imposed a ₹20,000 fine on ‘Anaganaga’ hotel on Road No. 45 and recovered the amount. Water Board Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy warned that strict action would be taken against those found misusing water resources in violation of regulations.
The action followed an incident noticed by Ashok Reddy while he was travelling along the Jubilee Hills main road. During his inspection, he observed that the premises of ‘Anaganaga’ hotel, located at Plot No. 775-G on Road No. 45, were being washed with a substantial quantity of water. The manner in which water was being used raised concerns over unnecessary wastage of a precious resource.
The MD immediately took note of the incident and directed the concerned officials to initiate action against the establishment. He expressed displeasure over the excessive use of water and instructed officials to ensure that the matter was dealt with according to the prescribed rules.
Acting on his directions, Water Board officials issued a notice to K. Gayathri Reddy, associated with the hotel, and imposed a penalty of ₹20,000. The officials subsequently collected the entire fine amount from the establishment.
Ashok Reddy said water should not be treated as an unlimited resource and stressed the need for responsible consumption. He particularly cautioned establishments against using drinking water for cleaning premises, roads and other areas when such extensive use is unnecessary.
The Water Board has been urging citizens and commercial establishments to adopt responsible water-use practices amid the growing importance of conservation. Officials said even seemingly routine activities can result in considerable wastage when water is used indiscriminately.
The MD appealed to people and establishments to exercise caution while using water and avoid practices that lead to unnecessary consumption. Water conservation, he said, is a collective responsibility, requiring cooperation from households, businesses and other institutions.
He also made it clear that the Water Board would not overlook instances of deliberate wastage or misuse. Strict action will be taken under existing regulations against those found wasting drinking water or other available water resources. The latest penalty is being seen as a reminder to commercial establishments to use water judiciously and comply with conservation norms.
