Journalists’ mass protest in Hyd concludes successfully

A large-scale protest organized by the Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) in collaboration with the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) concluded successfully in Hyderabad, drawing attention to the various challenges faced by journalists in the state. The demonstration took place in front of the office of the State Information Commissioner at Masab Tank, with media representatives from across Telangana participating to show solidarity with their colleagues.

During the protest, journalists highlighted several urgent issues that need government attention, including the provision of basic workplace facilities, safety concerns for field reporters, delays in accreditation processes, gaps in emergency services, and timely issuance of health cards. They also demanded support for the families of journalists who have passed away, implementation of pension schemes for retired journalists, and the prompt formation of professional committees to address industry concerns.

Participants emphasized unity and called on the government to address these issues without delay. Leaders of the protest expressed optimism that the government would consider their demands positively, following the event’s success.
