Job Calendar Brings Hope to Unemployed Youth: Minister Kondapalli Srinivas
State MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas said the government’s job calendar is more than just a set of figures, describing it as a powerful assurance to lakhs of unemployed youth . Welcoming the announcement made on Thursday on the occasion of Ugadi, he said the coalition government is restoring confidence and creating opportunities for young people, whose prospects he alleged had suffered under the previous regime.
Unprecedented Job Creation in 20 Months
The minister stated that within just 20 months of assuming office, the government has generated a record 6,28,347 jobs , reaffirming its commitment to the unemployed. He added that the administration is working towards creating a total of 20 lakh jobs over the next four years.
Detailing the figures, he said 2,48,906 jobs were provided through MSMEs , 1,46,627 via skill development initiatives and job fairs, 95,174 in the industrial sector, 64,035 in food processing, 13,866 in IT and electronics, and 5,208 in tourism. He also noted that the recruitment process for 30,607 teacher posts under the Mega DSC is progressing at a fast pace.
Focus on Education and Government Recruitment
Emphasizing efforts to strengthen higher education , the minister said the government has decided to fill 1,500 vacant faculty posts in universities and 3,000 junior lecturer positions. In addition, the job calendar includes 600 posts under Group-1 and Group-2 categories, along with 1,000 constable and 400 excise constable posts.
He pointed out that specifying clear timelines from notification to appointment would enable aspirants to plan their preparation effectively.
Sharp Criticism of Previous Administration
Kondapalli Srinivas criticized the previous YSRCP government, alleging that it had undermined the future of youth during its tenure. He accused former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of failing to fulfill the promise of issuing annual job calendars with 2.3 lakh vacancies, leaving unemployed youth disappointed.
He further claimed that policies driven by vested interests led to companies leaving the state, impacting job opportunities for around 34 lakh young people. Citing the Periodic Labour Force Survey, he said Andhra Pradesh recorded a 24 percent unemployment rate among graduates, one of the highest in the country. Referring to NCRB data, he expressed concern over reports of around 4,100 suicides linked to unemployment, calling it a grim reflection of the previous government’s performance.
