Jharkhand police arrest eight TSPC Naxals, recover weapons

In a significant move against left-wing extremism, Jharkhand police on Saturday arrested eight members of the banned Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) in Hazaribag district and recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition.

The TSPC is a banned Naxal group operating mainly in Jharkhand , involved in local extortion and armed attacks. Like other Naxal outfits, it follows a Maoist-inspired structure with zonal and sub-zonal commanders directing operations.

Acting on a tip-off, security forces apprehended the Naxals under the jurisdiction of Urimari police outpost. According to Sadar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Amit Anand, the operation led to the seizure of two INSAS rifles, a country-made pistol, 130 cartridges, a four-wheeler, and seven mobile phones .

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested Naxals were involved in a firing incident at Patratu in Ramgarh district on February 12 , which took place during an attempted extortion. The suspects reportedly admitted to operating under the instructions of TSPC's self-styled zonal commander Bhikhan Gajhu and sub-zonal commander Dinesh, alias Ravi Ram, SDPO Anand added.

An FIR has been registered at the Urimari police outpost, and all eight accused have been remanded to judicial custody . Authorities have described the arrests as a crucial step in disrupting the activities of TSPC in the region.

The successful operation underscores the continued vigilance of Jharkhand’s security forces in tackling left-wing extremism and ensuring the safety of local communities.
