Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari on Saturday announced that he has offered a senior job to a woman doctor involved in the widely debated naqab controversy in Bihar. The offer includes a monthly salary of ₹3 lakh, a government flat, desired posting, and full security support from the Jharkhand government.

The move comes after a video went viral showing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar removing the naqab (veil) of an AYUSH doctor while she was receiving her appointment letter at an official event in Patna. The incident, which took place at the Chief Minister’s secretariat on Monday, sparked nationwide outrage and a debate over personal dignity, religious freedom, and leadership conduct .

Speaking in Jamtara, Ansari condemned the act, calling it an affront to human dignity, honour, and the Constitution. He said Jharkhand is extending this offer as a gesture of support and solidarity with the woman.

Although this happened in Bihar and there is no formal administrative link , the Jharkhand government’s offer is largely symbolic and political . By publicly offering a high-paying government job, security, and housing, Health Minister Ansari is taking a stand against what he described as the humiliation of the woman doctor and is sending a political message to Bihar’s leadership . The gesture underscores solidarity and optics , rather than any jurisdictional authority over the Bihar incident.

The controversy has drawn national attention, with leaders and public figures demanding an apology from Nitish Kumar. However, as of now, he has not publicly apologized or offered a formal explanation for removing the woman doctor’s veil. Political figures including Mayawati, Omar Abdullah, and other civil society leaders have criticized his conduct and urged him to express regret. Meanwhile, allies and some officials have defended his actions, and the Bihar governor has made statements attempting to soften tensions.

There have been conflicting reports about whether the woman, identified in some reports as Dr. Nusrat Parveen, will proceed with the Bihar government job. Officials at a government medical college reportedly said she was expected to join duty, despite earlier suggestions she might be reluctant after the incident.

Overall, what began as a local administrative moment has escalated into a broader cultural and political debate , with Jharkhand’s job offer and nationwide reactions adding multiple dimensions to the story, highlighting issues of human dignity, religious freedom, and political accountability .
