
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren to grace Women's Hockey India League final
The stage is set for an exciting conclusion to the Women's Hero Hockey India League (HIL), as Hockey India confirmed that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will be the Chief Guest for the final match on January 10. The high-profile event will take place at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, bringing national and international attention to women’s hockey in India.
The final will see a thrilling clash between SG Pipers and Shrachi Bengal Tigers , two teams that have impressed throughout the season with consistent performances in both attack and defence. The match promises an intense battle for the coveted league trophy, highlighting the competitive spirit of the tournament.
Joining the Chief Minister will be Sudivya Kumar, Jharkhand’s Minister for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, and International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Dato Tayyab Ikram as Guests of Honour. Additionally, Kalpana Soren, Member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, will attend as a Distinguished Guest. Their presence underscores the growing prominence of the league and the increasing support for women’s hockey at both national and international levels.
Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey described the occasion as a matter of pride, emphasizing the government's support and the league’s international recognition. Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh added that the Women’s HIL provides a vital platform for elite and emerging female players, and having such dignitaries at the final reflects the league’s success in promoting the sport and shaping the future of women’s hockey in India.
