The Jharkhand CID has taken three members of the Tiwari family on remand for questioning in connection with alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Graduate-Level Combined Competitive Examination (JSSC-CGL).

The CID said on Saturday that Abhay Tiwari, his wife Sushma Kumari and brother Akshay Tiwari are being interrogated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case. Abhay, who was posted as a block supply officer in Poriyahat in Godda district, was arrested on July 22, while Sushma and Akshay were arrested on August 18.

The investigation relates to alleged irregularities in the JSSC-CGL 2023 examination, which was conducted in 2024. The CID has been examining suspected malpractice and the possible involvement of individuals connected with the examination process.

According to the agency, 18 other suspects linked to the case have also been served notices and questioned as part of the investigation. The SIT is examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged irregularities and the role of various individuals.

The CID on Friday also appealed to the public to share information related to suspected irregularities in the examination. It issued a mobile number, 9771432118, for people to provide information that could assist investigators.

During the investigation, officials reportedly found that Abhay Tiwari had qualified in around 12 competitive examinations over the past 13 years. The finding has emerged as a significant aspect of the ongoing probe as investigators examine his examination history and possible links to the alleged irregularities.

The CID’s latest action comes amid scrutiny of the recruitment examination and growing efforts to establish the extent of the alleged malpractice. The SIT is expected to question the three accused further to establish their roles and determine whether others were involved.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further action will depend on the evidence gathered during questioning and examination of other material linked to the case.
