Jharkhand Businessman dies after falling from apartment, investigation on
A Ranchi-based businessman, Anurag Sarawgi , died in an apparent suicide after jumping from the sixth floor of his apartment in the Hindpiri police station area late Thursday night, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred around 10:30 pm , when Sarawgi was reportedly heard speaking loudly on the phone moments before he bolted the door of his room and suddenly jumped, SP (City) Paras Rana said. No suicide note was recovered from inside the room, and the reasons for his actions remain unclear , police added.
Initial investigations suggest it is a case of suicide, with the body sent for post-mortem and further inquiry underway. Sarawgi’s elderly parents were present on the first floor of the building at the time, while his wife and children were not at home. Police said statements will be recorded after his family arrives in Ranchi for questioning.
This is the second widely reported suicide-related death in Ranchi in recent days. Earlier this week, 24-year-old chartered accountancy aspirant Mihir died after an alleged suicide attempt at his home, in which his mother and sister also consumed pills. Mihir later hanged himself, while his mother and sister survived. Authorities are investigating the circumstances, with financial stress believed to be a possible factor .
At present, no official link has been established between Sarawgi’s death and business pressures, government inquiries, raids, or enforcement actions. Investigators are exploring multiple possibilities, including personal and economic factors, as part of a thorough probe.
Police have urged relatives and associates of Sarawgi to come forward with information to assist the investigation. The case remains under detailed inquiry by local law-enforcement authorities.
