Jewar emerging as India’s ‘jewel’, says UP CM at semiconductor park event
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said Jewar is emerging as “India’s jewel”, as he addressed the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a semiconductor manufacturing park in the Greater Noida region.
Speaking at the event, the chief minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision in transforming the region into a major hub for high-technology and industrial development. “Jewar today is emerging as the ‘jewel’ of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Adityanath said, contrasting the current development push with what he described as instability and lawlessness in the region under previous governments.
The project is being developed by India Chip Private Limited, a joint venture between HCL Group and Foxconn , and marks a significant step towards strengthening India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, particularly in northern India.
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and other senior officials were present at the ceremony.
Adityanath said the semiconductor park, with an investment of around ₹3,700 crore , is expected to generate nearly 48,000 employment opportunities and help position Uttar Pradesh as a key destination for electronics manufacturing and innovation. He added that the project aligns with the Centre’s broader push to promote semiconductor design, manufacturing, and startups in the country.
Officials said the facility would support India’s growing demand for electronics and advanced technologies, including mobile phones, laptops, automobiles, and electric vehicles, while contributing to regional economic growth.
