JEE-Main 2026: 12 Secure 100 NTA Score, 3 from Rajasthan
Twelve candidates have secured a perfect NTA score of 100 in the first edition of JEE-Main 2026, with the highest number three hailing from Rajasthan, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Monday.
Over 13.04 lakh candidates appeared for the crucial engineering entrance examination conducted across multiple shifts.
According to sources, nine questions were dropped from the final answer key after discrepancies were flagged by students and other stakeholders. “Full marks will be awarded to all candidates who appeared in the respective shifts where the questions were dropped,” a source said. Last year, six questions had been withdrawn.
Of the 12 top scorers, three are from Rajasthan; two from Andhra Pradesh; and one each from Delhi, Bihar, Odisha, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telangana. All are male, and 11 belong to the general category.
The candidates are Kabeer Chhillar, Chiranjib Kar and Arnav Gautam (Rajasthan); Narendrababu Gari Mahith and Pasala Mohith (Andhra Pradesh); Shreyas Mishra (Delhi); Shubham Kumar (Bihar); Bhavesh Patra (Odisha); Anay Jain (Haryana); Madhav Viradiya (Maharashtra); Purohit Nimay (Gujarat); and Vivan Sharad Maheshwari (Telangana).
Officials clarified that the NTA score is not the same as percentage marks . “NTA scores are normalised across multi-shift papers and are based on the relative performance of candidates in a particular shift. Raw marks are converted to a scale ranging from 100 to 0,” a senior official said.
The NTA set up a Central Control Room to oversee the conduct of the examination. OTP-based Aadhaar e-KYC was introduced for the first time to authenticate candidates during registration and prevent impersonation.
Live CCTV surveillance with analytics was conducted at all centres, with remote live viewing enabled from the control room in New Delhi. AI-based video analytics, virtual observers and 5G jammers were deployed to curb malpractices and prevent unfair practices using electronic devices, officials said.
