A Japanese tourist was allegedly molested by five men near Jaipur’s iconic Jaigarh Fort on Sunday morning, police said on Monday. The authorities have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace the accused.

The incident occurred when the woman, who had arrived in Rajasthan just two to three days ago, was visiting the fort in the Amber area. She was walking towards the Ganesh temple nearby when the suspects allegedly stopped her on a secluded stretch and began misbehaving .

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Surendra Singh , the woman raised an alarm and managed to escape, running towards a nearby security guard. “Seeing her in distress, the guard immediately alerted the police. The accused fled as soon as she shouted for help,” the officer added.

Police teams are now examining CCTV footage from the area, which shows five men moving suspiciously down the hill. Officers are also scanning local criminal records and tourist guide registries to identify and apprehend the suspects.

The police have appealed to anyone with information regarding the accused to come forward. This incident highlights the ongoing need for enhanced security measures around popular tourist sites , especially in secluded areas. Jaipur, known for its historic forts and vibrant tourism, is taking steps to ensure such incidents are swiftly addressed.

The Japanese tourist is reportedly safe, but the shock of the incident underscores the vulnerability visitors can face in isolated stretches, even at well-frequented landmarks. Police continue their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice .
