Japanese Governor Praises Taj Mahal, Calls Visit a ‘Truly Wonderful Experience’
A high-level Japanese delegation, led by Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki and comprising around 240 CEOs of Japanese companies, visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on Thursday, highlighting growing prospects for stronger economic and technological cooperation between Japan and Uttar Pradesh.
The delegation spent nearly an hour at the iconic monument, admiring its architecture and historical significance. Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh received the Japanese visitors and accompanied them during their tour of the world-famous heritage site. After the visit, Nagasaki described his experience at the Taj Mahal as a major and memorable moment in his life. He praised the monument’s beauty and expressed respect for the people of Uttar Pradesh for preserving and safeguarding the globally recognised heritage site.
The Japanese governor also recorded his impressions in the Taj Mahal visitors’ book, describing the visit as a “truly wonderful experience.” He expressed gratitude for the friendship and longstanding ties between Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi Prefecture.
Singh said Nagasaki’s visit, along with the presence of a large Japanese business delegation, offered an important opportunity to deepen relations between the state and Japan. According to the minister, the governor appreciated Uttar Pradesh’s fertile land and its friendly people while expressing hope that cooperation between the two sides would advance further.
The minister said Japan-Uttar Pradesh cooperation could expand across several sectors, including cultural heritage, industry and research. Japanese technology, expertise and investment could play an important role in supporting the state’s development, he added.
The participation of around 240 Japanese business leaders is expected to create opportunities for closer industrial and technological partnerships. The visit could also encourage greater engagement between Japanese companies and Uttar Pradesh’s emerging industrial ecosystem.
The delegation’s Taj Mahal visit therefore served not only as a cultural exchange but also as a platform to explore new avenues for investment, innovation and bilateral cooperation between Japan and Uttar Pradesh.
